Our curriculum is based on the research of psychologists, yoga experts and many years of experience with child development at each age, with all our teachers certified in accordance with the international body, Yoga Alliance. With each Yoga story hand-drawn and integrated with music, an array of colors and wonderment, we have created a multi-sensory environment for our children.

Our yoga storytelling method requires a teacher to have the skills to maintain a balance between a “structured” but still creative and flexible classroom, from which children in the class will learn to listen to themselves and to each other.

Each class is designed to focus on the child. From there, we formulate each lesson according to the following guidelines:

  • Suitability for different stages of child development and growth;
  • Comprehensive development of all aspects from the physical, the psychological and the emotional (representing the body, mind and soul);
  • Lessons are taught in both Vietnamese and English to improve a child’s language development;
  • The process of how your child becomes involved in a yoga class is more important than the result;
  • As parents are the best companions on their child’s developmental journey, we actively encourage families to experience Yoga with their children athome also.

Our yoga storytelling class always begins with:

Warm up: warm up your body and get ready for the class with music and some interaction;

Discover: apply each posture in turn, Yoga exercises through themed stories;

Adventure: be confident, creative and engage in connected activities, expand awareness and thinking;

Relax: enjoy resting periods and feel the inner changes and emotions.

Level 1 (2 – 4 years old)

Exploring Yoga Planet

In early childhood, a significant amount of our development happens through imitation. We look at the way our parents, our teachers and other children handle their life and learn how to behave, react and feel emotions.

Therefore, at Yoga Planet, we want to encourage children to start finding their own movements with their own physical expressions with simple yoga stories and yoga poses. All of these class plans are built in segments and based on a topic relevant for this age group.

Level 1 (2 – 4 years old)

Exploring Yoga Planet

At this age, children may touch the world through watching and imitating others. Based on that, the lessons at Yoga Planet gently encourage children to begin to be curious and explore their body movements differently from Yoga stories and simple poses.

Level 2 (5 – 6 years old)

Your journey at Yoga Planet begins here. At this age, we encourage children to think creatively about the story. Our yoga stories often offer a sense of moral guidance – engaging both the body and the mind which helps children explore ‘right’ from ‘wrong’ and offers positive role models in the form of the characters and their behaviors.

We tell stories that allow children to experience a range of emotions to help them learn to read emotional cues in others.  At the ages of 5-6 in particular, children are exploring and learning more about their feelings, about their place in the world and how to interact with other people.

Level 2 (5 – 6 years old)

Exploring Yoga Planet

The journey at Yoga Planet finally begins. In each movement, your kids will be guided and inspired through the wonderful stories. These stories begin to get more complicated with yoga poses that suit children’s physique at this stage.

Children are gradually forming the notion based on each thing they learn from the story. Some details help children explore, experience many emotions, express and detect emotional cues from others.

Level 3 (7 – 8 years old)

For the ages of 7-8, our class plans will have a different focus. We will begin to look at the topics the children are studying at school as well as the pertinent issues that concern them at this age as they are growing up.

Therefore, we will move towards a more ‘adult-style’ of learning Yoga. Many of the Yoga poses will be familiar to the children from the earlier levels, but as they mature physically and psychologically, they are now able to engage with Yoga on a deeper level.

Level 3 (7 – 8 years old)

Between 7 and 8 years old, the concepts that children learn will be formed based on inference, limited thinking in familiar objects and events. Therefore, kids are still interested in Yoga storytelling, but in a different way.

Based on topics children learn from school, problems they often encounter, Yoga stories give them new discoveries and start with more complex events.

Many yoga poses are more familiar to adults but still based on the structure of the story for kids. As children begin to grow more physically and mentally, practice Yoga on a higher intensive level.

Level 4 (9 – 10 years old)

At the age group of 9-10 years old, our program is a bridge between childhood and adolescence. We help children understand what is going on around them, by giving them time to step back from the everyday and helping them begin to understand the many changes that they are experiencing.

We begin to introduce more advanced concepts and themes into the class through the all the poses, games, meditation exercises and relaxation techniques. The concepts or themes can be more physical such as the feeling of being upside down, focusing to work on specific body areas like the hips, legs, upper body, etc. or something more emotionally mature such as themes related to love, happiness and trust. We are passionate about seeing our pre-teens develop themselves around deeper topics such as courage, friendship, love and honesty.

Level 4 (9 – 10 years old)

Exploring Yoga Planet

More intensive and adult-oriented Yoga style for children’s classes.

9-10 years old is the bridge between childhood and adolescence. At this point in their Yoga journey, your kids will begin to become acquainted with concepts related to posture, play, meditation and relaxation in the theme of the classroom.

The concept introduced to children will be more physical (upside down, hips, legs, upper body…) or evidence of emotional, mental and social messages (Love/ Belief/ Happiness…). In addition, the class will revolve around more abstract topics such as courage, friendship, interaction and trust…

Yoga Storytelling

AT School

Yoga at schools will contribute to improving the quality of education. As a sport, it not only has a practical effect in improving physical health, emotional education and nourishing the soul but also supports psychological development of students. Nowadays, children do not go to school just to learn how to read, sing or dance,.. they experience yoga poses and grow up through stories.
